I joined another club in Chatham which is where I met Paul – this was May 2006, I remember walking into that damp stinking club – I was sooooo nervous, bit like a fight but the second the training started I was like a kid in a sweet shop. Afterwards I did what most people do and went to sports direct and got myself a load of cheap equipment and couldn’t wait for each session – genuinely couldn’t wait.
In Sept 2006 I moved to Hong Kong for 2 years and within 1 week had joined a Muay Thai Club called Jabmma and continued training every week. I moved back to the UK in Sept 2008 and I bumped into Paul Wiffen in Gillingham, I joined PWKA (a club like no other) the plan like most was to keep fit, meet some new friends and “possibly compete” but deep down I never believed I would have the nerve for it.
Since then I have become a black-belt and competed at various disciplines, light con, full contact, K1 and white collar.
I now teach the adults Kickboxing class every Monday evening and assist Paul with the Juniors on a Tuesday evening – both of which I love. I genuinely believe I will be at the club until my days are done and look forward to working with Paul and Zoe to further my skills and development of what is a fantastic club.
